oh-ben-toe…
Bentō (弁当 or べんとう, Bentō?) is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento consists of rice, fish or meat, and one or more pickled or cooked vegetables as a side dish.

So yesterday, after talking to my homie Eric (www.elusivemedia.com) about his yearn for a sushi buffet, I was in the mood for Japanese. I decided to check out a small place called “Obento” across the street. Swanky..

Eh, unfortunately the place isn’t as friendly as I expected it to be. Whatever..the operating hours are 10am-2:30pm. I got there at around 2 so that could be why there was a lack of enthusiasm. (but cmon..only working for 4hours a day can’t be that bad.)
There wasn’t much left and things were a bit more expensive than I expected them to be. The online menu has everything $1 cheaper than the in-store menu does. >_<*
Since it was about closing time and the last sushi order is supposed to be at 2pm, I decided to go with the “California Roll Combo” (6 pieces, 4 shu mai, 1 miso soup). A good thing about the place is that they prepare everything in front of you and you can opt for brown rice instead of white (for those that wish to be able to fit into a race seat).

All in all, I was a bit disappointed. The service wasn’t great. They didn’t gimme any chopsticks or a spoon for my soup, and it’s way more expensive than I would say the food is worth.
On a good note however, the service was super quick, the food was pretty decent and the register girl was cute.
(Not enough to make me wana go back though.)
